Community Manager, Project Manager
Project type
PC-based Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA), proprietary engine (Turbine Engine 3)
As the Community Manager of Infinite Crisis, I was involved in a number of new marketing initiatives that made use of my prior skills, including marketing program ideation and execution, forum moderation, social media content creation, live event planning, regular video content, community content, and live streams. We didn't stop there, however, as we wanted our company to break into competitive eSports.
Rather than only work with our PR Director and Vice-President of Marketing, I also worked in tandem with our Director of eSports and eSports team. We cross-trained our eSports staff with our Community staff, polishing the presentation and on-screen presence of our eSports commentators while our eSports staff trained our community team the ins and outs of professional, high-level MOBA gameplay and league operation.
In 2014, I launched a community-based marketing campaign called "Infinite Crisis: What Do You Fight For?" and challenged the DC Comics community to tell us what they did that makes them heroes. Participants could then elect to have their entries displayed on a website or shared on social media as part of the contest. 5 entrants into the contest would be chosen at random to win a customized Razer laptop with Infinite Crisis art. Many of the entries we got were very emotionally powerful, from parents who worked to support their sick kids to firefighters who proudly put their lives on the line for their job.
The contest generated 2.5 million unique visitors and 1 million+ new email subscribers to our newsletter on a total marketing spend of $10,000 USD.
