Together with the Threshold Games UI/UX Director, Nate Davis, we lead the creative development of our company's evocative "Escher Steps" branding and, later, the team concept of the "Threshold Games Crew." Our work on this branding was split into two parts: An initial branding pass in 2021 in tandem with the naming of the company and a second pass in 2023 to support a website relaunch. This page focuses on the 2021 branding pass.

During this project I worked directly with our CEO and Studio Lead to coordinate meetings, ideate brand directions, and format the company's values and mission statement. We landed on a desire to center ourselves as a supportive, queer, storytelling-first company that was ready to make radical, tactical strategy games that require thinking in new directions.

Nate was able to interpret these creative concepts into many layers of our branding, especially the central iconography of the steps, hex pattern, and crescent planet. In specific, the crescent shape was never identified as a moon or a planet and was intentionally shaped to evoke aspects of each to attain an "otherworldly" feel.
